GearUp4CF Campaign 2010 is officially underway

Submitted by Stan Shaw

For those of you who have just started to read our Rider's Journal for 2010, welcome!  With only just over two months to go, we are training hard for the ride now.  This means numerous short rides, intensive gym or cycle training at least three times a week now, and a long ride, 100 km or more, on the weekend that includes more and more hill climbing. By the time June approaches we'll be climbing two or three mountains (Cypress, Grouse and Seymour) as part of our Saturday morning training rides.

In the meantime, fundraising is picking up as well.  For those of you who live in the Vancouver area, Susan Edmison, Tom Evans  and I,  are hosting a special silent auction at one of our rider's homes near Granville and King Edward on:

Saturday, April 17th between 4:00 - 6:00 PM

In addition to many great items - art, books, jewellery, liquor, gift baskets, floral arrangements, weekend get-aways and fitness packages - we're  raffling off a large collection of fine wine. By the time Saturday arrives, we  expect to have over 40 bottles, all being raffled off as one item - enough to complement any wine cellar.

This will be a fun event!  For more details, click here

UPDATE APRIL 14th: We now have an on-line Auction Catalogue.

In the meantime, every donation counts. If you cannot make it on Saturday, please consider donating right away to your favorite rider - or riders.

Remember, while each of us must raise at least $5,000 on behalf of the kids we're riding for, we're riding as a team and it's really the total amount of funds that goes to Cystic Fibrosis research that's important to us.

My new poster, being sent to friends and family-->

So please give generously. In addition to receiving a tax deduction on the donations you give, you will also experience the wonderful satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to make a real difference - bringing hope - to the kids we are riding for.

- Stan
